Veterans Day a Busy Day

Today was Veterans Day and I was very surprised to find American Flags hanging here at Valle Escondido. Not just the American flag but every flag of the of every branch of the armed services.  They had planned a celebration for the US citizens that included typical American food ( hamburgers etc) music etc.  It was a pleasant surprise to see the Panamanians were aware enough to let the expats celebrate an American day.
We have made the move to our new house.  This place is located just up the road from our first house but is of a totally different design.  This place has 2 levels plus a loft. It seems HUGE to us.  We have spent all of our time both last year and this in basically one large room  other than the bedroom the spaces have been all open.  Here it is more like a real home. It has 3 bedrooms - 2 baths- a wonderful little loft that is a TV room, a nice sized balcony.  The kitchen is wonderful - granite counter tops, a huge fridge and a stove almost twice the size of what I have at home..  Evie has a wonderful sense of decoration also.  The home is so tastefully decorated that it could have been in the pages of any home decorating magazine. Yet at the same time it is comfy and homey.  We are in charge of 3 little dogs - Bosco, Mango and  Buffet.  It is a huge difference to between walking two huge dogs and then 3 little dogs.  The first pulls and could take you any direction they want the 2nd wrap themselves around my legs and each other. But they are adorable.
Moving is kind of a pain - especially when it is only  short distance and you do not have a car.  It is not worth packing back up the suitcase.  So I ended up throwing stuff into the suitcase and zipping it up and going.  What does not fit into the suitcase you throw into grocery sacks.  Then there is moving all the food, remembering to take everything out of the fridge and freezer.  Then to top it off all we have to move stuff with is a golf cart.  So trip after trip is made with our stuff sitting on the seat beside me.
Then the fun begins...... trying to figure out which light switch controls which light and to add to it the lights all have ceiling fans with their own switches.  In Panama there are several choices for cable TV- and this house has BOTH- and between all those channels only a few are in English. Just how many episodes of Law and Order can I watch!!!
Bud has to move his "office" which is also not easy.  Figuring out the best place to set up is the first thing and since there is so much room here he had several options. The getting the computer up and running only to have difficulty getting the printer here to recognize it.  He needs a side table of papers, a chair that is comfortable etc.  It ends up being stressful for both of us!!!.Thank goodness is it is now Friday and we have the weekend to adjust to our new "gig".
